September 2025
This month is the month of my birth. It’s also the mark of one month living in my new home in Amsterdam, Netherlands. So many things have changed in the past month, I’m like… WTF. Shall we get into it?
Table of Contents
1. Wins
Big / Small Victories: Started my Master’s program, making friends/community here, working with a coach (and friend) to build my confidence, being told to book flights to my favorite place ever- fully covered.
Moments of Joy: My Half Pint visiting for a day, going to a market with new friends, having a private tour of the AMC hospital hyperbaric chamber, basking in the sun (when it’s out), seeing old friends from Bonaire, finally going out to dance with friends, and my birthday dinner with friends.
Number of Books Read: 1 read, 1 not finished; 1 audiobook started
Favorite Quote: “But HOW do you know?” - a professor in school
Favorite Location: In front of my mirror in my apartment (for my dance breaks from school and work).
Favorite Meal: My cultural potluck birthday dinner with new friends in my new home, because I got to try dishes from 5 countries, socialize with friends, and feel the love on my birthday.
Favorite Memory: The relief of leaving classes hahahaha.
2. Takeaways
This month, I learned that academic papers are not fun to read every day. Ha. But in all honestly, I’ve learned how to create a new life here the way I want to. This is Trinity’s life version… 4? I like it a lot so far. It comes with ups and downs of course, but it’s mine. And I’m really happy with it.
3. Failures
Expectation: I can totally integrate as a Dutchie without falling off my bike.
Reality: I fell and scabbed my knee so badly I now have a scar.
I’m learning that I need to look ahead while biking, and I’m not quite to the riding-with-no-hands stage…
4. Was That Fun?
Yet another 30 days/720 hours/43.200 minutes gone by from 2025. It’s wild how quickly this year is passing! September was another great month for me and I had lots of fun. Did you have any fun? Personally, I’m looking forward to October. Rounding out the year in the last quarter. Let’s see what it can bring.
