August 2025

Wow. Lots happened this month. I can’t wait to share it with you. This was a big, big month full of secrets that are finally out… WTF, I’ve moved to the Netherlands! I’m a student again. I’m crazy, it’s official. Okay, let’s just get into it.

Table of Contents

1.Wins | 2.Takeaways | 3.Failures | 4.Was That Fun?

1. Wins

  • Big / Small Victories: Visiting with a friend I haven’t seen since 2021, successfully moving into my new apartment, being ahead of the game with bureaucratic appointments for moving, making new friends from a laundry-room conversation, and starting my new masters program!

  • Moments of Joy: Riding bikes with my new mini friend on a Dutch island, sleeping in my own place again for the first time in over a year, spending time with my parents again after a month-and-a-half, participating in SAIL Amsterdam 2025, dancing with Ed.People in Ghent, and having a first day of school again.

  • Number of Books Read: 2 not finished; 1 audiobook started (didn’t finish a single book this month… :( )

  • Favorite Quote: “You make me want to chase being free.” - a new friend from London, to me

  • Favorite Location: MY NEW HOME IN AMSTERDAM!!!!!!!

  • Favorite Meal: A tapas-style meal with family and friends in Berlin because the food, company, and scenery were all lovely.

  • Favorite Memory: Opening the door to my new home, my new life, on 15 August.

2. Takeaways

This month, I learned that I need full commitment from my relationships. It doesn’t matter what kind of relationship it is- family, friend, romantic, etc. But I need full commitment. A ride-or-die, tell me how it is, honest-truth, I absolutely am here for you kind of commitment. If it isn’t that, I don’t want it. I need genuine, authentic love. I want to offer that in return. But I need it back. I won’t settle for being a back-up anymore.

3. Failures

  • Expectation: I can totally make an IKEA bed all by myself.

  • Reality: I clearly cannot look at pictures correctly. I needed a power tool to fix it.

I’m learning that I sometimes rush things when I should be patient. I'm going to make a better, more intentional habit of fully taking in the information that’s provided before moving forward. Something that will be crucial for my studies this upcoming year.

4. Was That Fun?

31 days/744 hours/44.640 minutes of this wild month. A little travel, a little socializing, a little… moving! Crazy things are happening these days. Looking forward to seeing what the rest of the year has in store. September- let’s go!
