March 2025
I wasn’t expecting everything that happened this month. Some spectacularly good, some neutral, some way different than I assumed. But, it was March 2025… the only one we’ll ever get of its kind. Half of the month was spent traveling, while simultaneously planning my future escapes and booking tickets. I really do have a problem. But to recap, WTF March. Let’s go.
Table of Contents
1. Wins
Big / Small Victories: I was consistent with working out pre-traveling, I read a lot of books, I snorkeled without pain or infection, and I booked tickets to go to my favorite place again!!!
Moments of Joy: Clubbing with Angela in San Fransisco, snorkeling for the first time in 17 months on Eleuthera, seeing Chance off to his senior Prom, and having a really good catch-up session with him later that week.
Number of Books Read: 14 read; 1 audiobook not completed
Favorite Quote: “I need you to hold me accountable to the same standard you live up to.” - Angela (not directed at me, but still, a great quote)
Favorite Location: Eleuthera because I was finally on an island again, in the water, getting tan, reading, and with my family
Favorite Meal: Catch of the day with fingerling potatoes covered in balsamic and green beans at 1648 on Eleuthera. Aside from mama not feeling too good, the weather was perfect at sunset, the breeze was nice, the beer was good, and I was sitting by my bubs.
Favorite Memory: Snorkeling off the coast of our Air BNB on Eleuthera by myself because it was my first time in the water like that in nearly 1,5 years and it was just so healing being alone in the big blue again.
2. Takeaways
This month, I learned that people have different styles of hosting. Whether that be for a dinner, event, or you’re couch crashing for a week. There are vary wide ranges of hospitality on a friend-level. I’ve learned it’s important to ask what the expectations are so you are not surprised or disappointed, for lack of a better word, when the time comes.
3. Failures
Expectation: I can get rid of the parasites I’ve had since January (apparently) through holistic ways only.
Reality: At least two rounds of antibiotics are necessary.
I decided to take this challenge I found out about and try a more natural approach first. Not that I don’t believe in medicine, because there are so many wonderful things that Western medicine has done for the world. But I still try to use Eastern medicine first. Well, turns out, my “high/heavy load” of multiple parasitic species isn’t something that supplements alone can fix…
4. Was That Fun?
After another 31 days/744 hours/44.640 minutes of 2025… did you have fun? I definitely did this March. With friends, new and old, family, and all by myself. I think the key to getting through life is just finding joy in the little things, ya know? So, here’s to April. The month of my mama, the month of official Spring-feelings, the month of tulips… I miss you, Nederland.
